Shooting
A shooting early Sunday morning south of Florence seriously injured a 27-year old female while the suspects fled the area. Law enforcement personnel in Western Oregon are looking for 46-year old Victor Glen Caron, and 40-year old Tanya Mintey. They are believed to be driving a blue 2000 Dodge Durango with an Oregon license plate, 811 DSW. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was visiting the couple with a 27-year old male and a small child at a residence on Green Gate Road, near Honeyman State Park about 1 a.m., when an argument broke out. The woman was shot in the stomach with a shot gun and her boyfriend was struck in the head with the shotgun. He carried her from the home and fled in their vehicle to a nearby gas station where they called 911. The female was transported at first to Peace Harbor Hospital and then transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield with serious injuries. OSP troopers, detectives and Lane County deputies responded and surrounded the suspect’s house. The home was entered about 5:45 a.m., but it was found unoccupied. The suspects are known to have ties in Nevada and California.

Kidnapping/Sexual Abuse
A 28-year old Riverton male was arrested early Friday morning on charges of Kidnap I, Unlawful Sexual Penetration I, Sex Abuse I, Assault IV Domestic Felony, Domestic Menacing and Reckless Endangering after a Coos Co. Sheriff’s deputy and an Oregon State Police trooper responded to a residence on Riverton Road outside of Coquille to a report of an assault in progress. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy arrived about 6 a.m. and located a 25-year old female victim eight-months pregnant up a dirt road along with the suspect, identified as Jason Joseph Kelemen. He fled from the deputy but was located within a few minutes hiding in briar bushes. Kelemen also stated he consumed a quantity of methamphetamine just minutes earlier when he fled. He was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital for immediate evaluation and later transported to Bay Area Hospital where he was treated ingesting the drug.

Death investigation
Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing an investigation into the apparent accidental death of a Depoe Bay-area man Friday evening after he was reported missing by his roommate with whom he was flying kites on a rocky outcropping in Depoe Bay. According to OSP Sergeant Justin McGladrey, on June 11, 2010 at approximately 7:06 p.m. an OSP trooper was dispatched to a report of a missing person who possibly had fallen into the ocean near the west end of Vista Street in Depoe Bay. DENNIS KEITH BROCKUS, age 45, was flying kites with his 45-year old male roommate that evening when BROCKUS' kite fell onto a rocky area. At approximately 6:00 p.m. his roommate's kite also fell to the ground and broke so the roommate returned to their residence to fix the kite while BROCKUS attempted to recover his kite from the outcropping. When his roommate returned to the location about 20 minutes later, he couldn't find BROCKUS and immediately notified the Coast Guard. McGladrey said it appears BROCKUS fell into the ocean from the rocky outcropping when trying to retrieve his kite. Prior to OSP's arrival, two Coast Guard vessels and a helicopter had been dispatched to look for BROCKUS. At approximately 7:50 p.m. Coast Guard personnel aboard the helicopter spotted BROCKUS in the ocean about one mile south of the Vista Street location. The helicopter crew retrieved BROCKUS and transported him to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City where he was pronounced deceased at 9:19 p.m. Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue and Pac West Ambulance also assisted at the scene.

Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor launched a ground party, a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew and a 25-foot response boat crew to the scene. The ground party reached the jetty and managed to safely escort the four people off of the rocks, and the boat crews stayed on scene until the pleasure craft came off the jetty.
