Charleston is an unincorporated community located on the south Oregon coast at the ocean entrance to Coos Bay. It is home to the Charleston Marina and its economy largely revolves around commercial and sport fishing. The climate in Charleston is fairly mild year round. Sunset Bay State Park
About 4 miles southwest of Charleston on Cape Arago Hwy
Old growth forest and a sandy beach protected by towering sea cliffs. Tent camping; RVs; yurts; a hiker/biker camp. In all, 29 full hookup, 34 electrical, and 66 tent sites; eight yurts; one group tent. Hiking trails connect to nearby Shore Acres and Cape Arago State Parks. South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve
Four miles south of Charleston on Seven Devils Rd
4,800-acre estuarine reserve that encompasses a mixture of open water channels, tidal and freshwater wetlands, riparian areas, and forested uplands. Visitors can explore the estuary through an interpretive center, trails and waterways.
