When we originally wrote this page Alyce, the only Woody Allen film on our list was very difficult to find legal copies of. There were reasons for this, and in subsequent updates of this page we'll explore them or not. As of this writing we finally have news about the availability of this oh-too-true movie. Maybe too true for Woody's own good with cast to match. This movie is way too good to miss. Most of the reviews in Amazon and so on are written by David Manning or lames who like Woodie Allen movies generally so they generally don't like this one too much. Go configure. New crisp copies of Alyce are now available in DVD or VHS.

Doctor Zhivago was included in our list, but only the first half; for it's story telling, and the story told. The second half has nothing to do with anything. The first half is worth the price of adding this one to your collection.

Billy Joel's River of Dreams (the video) is another rare find when found. Watch for updates.

KAL007 surfaced for a while in video, but like some of the others mentioned herein has been pulled from the mass market for whatever reasons; cynical, sinister or not. Fact is this is a transition time for the VHS video industry as they gear up to deal with wide screen and DVD. With the advent of 104 inch TV sets, nearly all new videos are available in wide screen and DVD. See DVD players and DVD Starter-Kits. Don't forget cables, surge protectors and the like when ordering your DVD Player...

Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi are essential viewing and hearing but are not easily found. As these become more readily available, it will be posted on the Overnight News page.

L Famiglia is The Family as Moonstruck is The Family as Godfather is The Family and historical, including the assassination of a not so fictional Pope as is told in Godfather III, justifies it's inclusion on our list. L Famiglia is out there and if you want your own copy, we'll find one.

You don't have to be Jewish or a Hollywood insider to recognize that Love at First Bite is another all-time great movie not so easily found but should not be missed. This is one we watch for available copies of, even at garage sales.

One of our favorites because talent is talent and business is business, and because both are sometimes one, besides, as a protection against Voodoo, we have nothing against Voodoo so a Madonna page on this website is appropriate. Click away.

The Magician, an early-on Disney production paved the way for TRON. As we learn where purchases of this video can be made, we'll let you know.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Sometimes a Great Notion and Ken Kesey himself have their own page hereabouts from where both video and books may be ordered, with a click-to Kernville, Oregon, alongside the Siletz River where Sometimes was filmed.

Thin Blue Line and This Ain't Be-bop were originally broadcast on PBS, and video copies are out there... somewhere.

Round Midnight and the World According to John Coltrane are Jazz classics that are out-of-print at the moment.

There a good many videos and DVDs that for whatever reason didn't make our Top 100 list that are nonetheless worth seeing any number of times; The Fugitive, LA Confidential, Mission Impossible and the like. A short-list appears on the DVD Players and Starter-Kit page.
